MUD Act 2011
The Multi-Unit Developments Act (MUD), signed into law in Ireland requires developers to hand over ownership of all the common areas of apartment complexes to owner management company.
No apartment in a new development may be sold unless the common areas have first been transferred to the Owners’ Management Company (OMC). Under the Act the OMC will be required to have annual general meetings on a variety of issues including fire safety.
MSA provide property and facility management professionals:
A Fire Safety Survey and Assessment meeting the statutory obligations that the directors, members and agents of OMCs must comply with.
The Audit includes a practical review of good practice in relation to fire safety, with a particular focus on the common areas of apartment developments (i.e. those areas under the control of the OMC).
Clear cost effective recommendations for upgrade works regarding fire safety where required.
